STC Berkeley Chapter Board Meeting Minutes, September 12, 2005

Present:  Joe, Jim, Richard, Valerie, Eunice

RoboHelp Class

Date is confirmed for November 12 at the Albany Senior Center. Eunice sent a brief announcement article to Gina for inclusion in the Sept./Oct. Ragged Left.  Eunice will get a 2 – 3 line postcard blurb to Valerie by Sept. 28. Joe will do an email blast to Berkeley members this week, or when Eunice finishes writing up the information. Berkeley members will receive 1 week advance notice of the class offering. If the class is not full in 1 week, other members on the email blast list will be notified.

Publications Competition

STC International has not yet published our competition on the Chapters Presenting Competitions list. Jessica is to follow up on this.

Richard heard from some people who expressed interest in volunteering as judges. We need a volunteer coordinator. Jessica is helping out. Joe will make a request for help through the NorCal President’s list.

We may need the meeting room at the Hotel Shattuck on Oct. 8 for distributing entries to judges. Joe will call the hotel about this, and will also find out about if/when we can reserve for 2006 meetings.

Meetings

Joe is ordering some STC items for door prizes. The November program being planned by Linda Urban is tentatively scheduled to be on salary negotiations, with Wren Withers presenting.

No meeting will be held in December.

In January we will have a party. In addition to being a social, we will recognize contributors. Joe will ask Kathryn Munn to help with it, or request volunteers through an email blast.

We still need to replace Valerie. Kim and Linda are not able to commit to being at the monthly meetings.

Valerie will write up the process for creating the meeting post card. It is cheaper to produce a plain post card without a picture. It is also easier to upload as a pdf. Some Board members still prefer the picture post card.

Mediterranean food will be at this month’s meeting. If food runs out, we will tell walk-ins that the food is gone, but ask them if they want to stay for the meeting and pay the meeting-only price.

Survey

Survey Monkey arrangements have been made. Valerie will upload it shortly. Once done, Joe will send an email blast about it, with a link to the website.

Rechartering Document

Richard will review the latest version to ensure that his comments are addressed.

Phone Tree

So far, Joe, Richard, and Jim will call members. Joe will ask for volunteers at the Wednesday meeting.
