Berkeley Chapter Changes Location of Chapter Meetings: Highlands Country Club in Oakland
May 21, 2007:
After much discussion within our Chapter's leadership, the Chapter has decided to move our regular location for the Chapter Meetings to the Highlands Country Club in Oakland, California.
The Highlands CC has been the location of recent special meetings for our Chapter, including the Christmas/New Year's celebration, the visit by the STC Executive Director Susan Burton, and other occasions. The location is superior for our meetings, and represents a vast improvement over the existing facilities of the Shattuck Hotel where we have been holding our Chapter Meetings for many years.
The New Left-Side Menu Structure for Our Chapter's Website
After years of a lengthening left-side margin menu, our Webmaster has put in the effort to organize a series of six menu pages that shorten the left-side margin menu to something close to reasonable. Enjoy.
STC Awards Berkeley Chapter with Award of Excellence
May 13, 2007:
Reporting from the STC 54th Annual Conference at the Minneapolis Convention Center, Minnesota, our esteemed President Richard Mateosian has received the Society for Technical Communication's Chapter Award of Excellence for our Berkeley Chapter during the Sunday Leadership Day activities.
Congratulations to our Chapter's Public Relations Manager Jessica Livingston for leading the effort to apply for the award, working throughout the latter part of 2006 and all of 2007 to assist our Chapter's leadership in this effort.
STC offers three Chapter Achievement Awards, Distinguished, Excellence, and Merit. Usually, only one Chapter per size category receives a Distinguished award, and only a few Chapters within the size category receive the Excellence award.
Other Northern California Chapters receiving STC Chapter Achievement awards are the Silicon Valley Chapter (Distinguished Award) and the East Bay Chapter (Award of Merit).
Kathryn Munn Received Distinguished Chapter Service Award
May 9, 2007: The Berkeley Chapter of STC has awarded a Distinguished Chapter Service Award to one of our former Presidents, Kathryn Munn.
